Bush Party Rumour: RCMP

Rumour has it that there's a large bush party in the works and the cops are on top of it.

Kelowna Rural RCMP are sending out notice that they're aware of a planned bush party on the Westside to coincide with the launch of another school year.

"A number of rumours are circulating through-out the community of a large bush party planned by the Mt Boucherie Secondary School students for the Bear Creek area on Monday night," says Staff Sergeant, Shawn Wylie.

"This is only one of a number of similar parties that the RCMP are aware of. The students and their parents have heard many horror stories over the years of students being injured from excessive drinking, illegal drug use, sexual assaults, motor vehicle and other accidents. The purpose of this correspondence is to encourage both the students and their parents to consider the potential dangers and far reaching consequences of attending functions of this type."

Wylie says the bush partiers can expect road blocks on their journey.

"We would also like to notify the students that they should expect to encounter RCMP road checks while attending these parties and there will be a zero tolerance for illegal alcohol possession, motor vehicle infractions and other criminal behavior."
