Hiker rescued in Rose Valley

UPDATE 4:25 p.m.

West Kelowna assistant fire chief Brent Watson says they have now handed the injured woman over to the care of paramedics.

The hiker with a leg injury had fallen in the area of the Jabbarocky and Days of Roses bike trails on the west slope of Rose Valley.

“It’s a good hike up there,” Watson said, explaining it took some time to reach the woman. The rescue took place without any significant challenges.

Fire crews in West Kelowna are in the middle of a rescue in Rose Valley.

A woman in some type of medical distress cannot make it down one of the trails.

Fire crews and paramedics are gathering at the Rosewood Drive entrance. The call for help came in shortly after 1:15 p.m. and it is expected it will take some time to retrieve the woman due to her location.
