Regional Board Highlights

Arenas Concession Contract - The Regional Board has approved a contract for the operation of food and non-alcoholic beverage concessions at Royal LePage Place and Jim Lind Arena. The Parks and Recreation Department has negotiated the five year contract with Vision Sports Group LLP, which owns the Westside Warriors. Vision Sports Group will be responsible for equipment, maintenance and improvements to the concession areas in the arenas at the Mount Boucherie Community Centre. Vision Sports Group will pay the Regional District each month, 12% of the gross revenue generated from the concessions, excluding GST. The contract could be extended for a second five year term.

Proposed Westbank Subdivision Rezoning - The Regional Board has given first reading to a rezoning bylaw for a proposed subdivision on a 1.71-hectare parcel adjacent to Angus Drive in Westbank. The applicant wants to develop a 14-lot single-family subdivision that will border agricultural land. A public hearing will be advertised, after confirmation is received from the Province regarding the proposed subdivision site plan.

South Mt. Boucherie Subdivision Rezoning - A rezoning bylaw for a proposed subdivision in the South Mount Boucherie area received second and third reading. The applicant proposes a 54-lot single-family subdivision adjacent to McCallum Road and Pinot Gris Drive. Final reading will be considered once the Province approves the subdivision layout.

Development Permit Approved - The Regional Board has approved a Development Permit application for the form, character and landscaping of a proposed five-plex on the corner of Ross Road and Riffington Place. The building will be in addition to an existing four-plex on the .16-hectare site. Four variances have also been approved for setbacks and parking.

Regional Hospital Board Spending Approved - The Regional Hospital Board has approved a bylaw to spend $260,000 to help purchase a major piece of medical equipment. Interior Health plans to buy a Urology Imaging System for use at Kelowna General Hospital. Interior Health will contribute $390,000 towards the cost of the equipment. The Regional Hospital District funds up to 40% of the cost of major capital and equipment purchases for the Central Okanagan.

Next Regional Board Meeting - The next scheduled regular meeting of the Regional Board will be Monday, August 20th, 2007 at 7:00 pm in the Woodhaven Room at the Regional District office, 1450 KLO Road, Kelowna.
