The Okanagan Beach Club, formerly known as Okanagan Lake Resort, is officially open offering guests a variety of revamped activities and amenities with the help of some new faces.
"We've taken over the resort in February, everything but the accommodation side of things," says co-owner of the Okanagan Beach Club Ryan Hargreaves.
Hargreaves and his team are responsible for the the marina, event spaces, outdoor pools, private beach and more. The resort also features a licensed tiki bar on the beach, the only one of its kind in the Central Okanagan.
"We wanted to bring back life to this resort," he says. "Over the last few years it's pretty much been dead and we saw a really good opportunity."
While reopening amid COVID-19, the team initially offered takeout and delivery services until pandemic restrictions were eased. Now locals and tourists are welcome to come and enjoy the house made cuisine at the Bistro which is run by chef and co-owner of the Okanagan Beach Club, Andrew Jacek.
"Our main objective is to make it like that Mexican style resort again where families can come, have lots of fun," says Hargreaves. "20 years ago this place was flourishing. They would do Sunday brunches here, weddings were booked every day. There was a lot of life here."
Hargreaves hopes the resort will someday reflect the success it had 20 years ago through his team's three-year remodelling and renovation plan.
"We have a beautiful marina, boat rentals, kayak rentals, paddle boards. We encourage all the locals and tourists to come out on their boats. We have a huge dock out here, come to the tiki bar, use our outdoor pools, play some golf," says Hargreaves, adding that the resort has a private beach that is utilized for wedding ceremonies and private dining.
"Theres not too many places in the Okanagan where you have your own beach for your guests."
