Marine rescue for boat taking on water near Rattlesnake Island

Boater rescued from sinking

UPDATE 11:18 a.m.

Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Captain Kelly Stephens tells Castanet, "we responded to a call of a boater in distress and managed to get everyone to safety."

Kelowna Fire responded to the call just after 8 a.m. Thursday with marine rescue 2. They found the boat off of Rattlesnake Island and managed to help get the boaters to safety.

Emergency crews were busy Thursday morning after receiving a report of a boater is in distress near Rattlesnake Island.

Reports indicate the boat is taking on water after the operator somehow lost his drain plug and then called for help.

The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
