Boil water advisory downgraded in Peachland

Boil water downgraded

The boil water advisory in Peachland has been downgraded.

There is now a “water quality advisory” in place, meaning that not everyone needs to boil their water before consumption anymore.

“While the associated health risks are minimal, Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice,” the District of Peachland said in a statement.

“For those at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.”

The advisory is in place due to increased turbidity during spring runoff. The municipality is in the process of building a new water treatment plant to reduce the advisories moving forward.
