Visibility near zero due to blowing snow on Hwy 97C

Blinding snow on Hwy 97C

The Okanagan Connector between the Pennask Summit and West Kelowna is in treacherous shape.

Blowing snow has visibility at near-zero in some areas, with drifts starting to form on the highway. While a single lane is cleared and visibility is fair between Aspen Grove and Pennask, drivers are being forced to slow to below 30 km/hr during the descent into the Okanagan Valley.

Motorists should avoid travel if possible.

Environment Canada has also issued a blowing snow advisory for the highway.

“For the southwest interior the worst conditions are expected this evening. Visibility will improve through the night as snow tapers off and winds ease,” the advisory states.
