Snow is coming down on the Connector Saturday

Whiteout on Connector

It's looking a lot like winter on the high mountain passes Saturday.

While rain falls on the Valley bottom, snow has been coming down hard on the Okanagan Connector since about 10 a.m.

DriveBC webcams show the Connector is covered in snow from the Brenda Mines area to the Elkhart area, and five to 10 centimetres is expected to fall throughout the day.

Currently, the Coquihalla south of Merritt appears dry, but snow had blanketed the highway between Merritt and Kamloops.

Saturday morning, Environment Canada issued snowfall warnings for the stretch of Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, along with the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.

Twenty to 30 cm of snow is expected to fall on both of those stretches of highway through the weekend, although as of early Saturday afternoon, snow has yet to begin accumulating in those areas.
