Sport dome rates proposed

Rates proposed for West Kelowna's new sports dome are in line with what other communities around the Okanagan charge for similar facilities.

City council will look over the proposed rates for the multipurpose facility, which is scheduled to open in the fall.

Staff are proposing rates of $175/hour during prime time and $110/hour during non-prime hours for the full field, and half that for rental of half the field.

Westside Youth Soccer would pay a flat rate of $55/hour any time.

The youth soccer association provided $667,000 toward the overall cost of $4.1 million.

Prime times are from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. Non-prime hours are from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on weekends.

In order to set the rates, staff say they consulted existing user groups and reviewed sport and soccer dome fees in other communities.

These fees include:

  • Kelowna Mission - $175 prime, $100 non-prime
  • Rutland - $198 prime, $115 non-prime
  • CNC - $135 any time
  • Penticton - $125 any time
  • Kamloops - $190 prime, $110 non-prime
  • Vernon - $175 prime, $125 non-prime

Fees are recommended to be in place until March 31, 2021, at which time they can be reviewed, and adjusted.
