Warriors walk for food bank

The West Kelowna Warriors will be out in force Saturday during the annual Westside Daze parade, collecting food and donations for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

The Warriors will head out just prior to the start of the parade, pushing shopping carts and accepting donations.

In conjunction with the food bank, the Warriors will distribute two free game vouchers for anyone donating.

Local kids and parents will join team member and West Kelowna native Jake Harrison in collecting donations.

"The food bank is an organization that is close to my heart. As a teenager growing up in Regina during the 1980s I had to use the service of the food bank on many occasions as I tried to navigate the challenges of living on my own at a young age and keep my bills paid on a very small income," said Warriors owner Kim Dobranski.

"Many people who use the food bank probably are not who you would expect. It is a support organization to help individuals and families who sometimes can fall short of their obligations."
