Car fire under investigation

UPDATE 9:46 a.m.

West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund tells Castanet investigators are now trying to determine the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a vehicle in Lakeview Heights Monday night.

"The fire was minor in nature. Crews arrived quickly and knocked down the fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment, preventing it from spreading into the adjacent structure," says Brolund.

ORIGINAL 7:25 a.m.

West Kelowna fire crews had their hands full with a vehicle fire in Lakeview Heights Monday night.

Eagle-eyed Castanet contributor David Ogilvie, snapped this photo of a car fully engulfed in flames just before 10 p.m. Monday night at 1161 Lakeview Rd in West Kelowna.

Ogilvie tells Castanet, "the photos from my camera does not show the car because the flames were so high. Engine 32 was there right away and Engine 31 followed."

The quick response by the West Kelowna Fire Department helped douse the vehicle fire quickly and prevented the fire from spreading to any nearby structures or brush.
