Seeking witnesses in crash

UPDATE: 9:20 p.m.

Police officers are looking to speak with witnesses after the driver of a Honda Civic drove into a light pole without slowing down.

Emergency crews responded to the 2200 block of Boucherie Road for a single vehicle collision just after 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

A white Honda Civic had been traveling southbound on Boucherie Road when it drifted to the left and collided head-on with a street light, in the median of the roadway.

“Initial indicators at the scene suggest that the vehicle operator may not have applied their brakes before the collision,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor and the woman driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Both the Honda Civic and the light standard sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash.

She was charged under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act for fail to keep right.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact Const. Vince Cesarone at 250-768-2880.
