RHTH parking crunch

Parking will be at a premium around the Mount Boucherie complex when Rogers Hometown Hockey comes to West Kelowna next weekend.

The caravan will roll into West Kelowna Thursday to begin setting up for the weekend extravaganza, taking over both parking lots and the courtyard.

Both parking lots will be closed to city staff and the public from Thursday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 20.

Parking will be available in the lots at Mt. Boucherie Secondary when classes are not in session, on the street, and at the Super 8 Motel and an adjacent lot on Westgate Road.

Hometown Hockey culminates with a live broadcast featuring Ron MacLean and Tara Sloan beginning at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, prior to the national broadcast of an NHL game between Toronto and Arizona.

The weekend will feature stage entertainment, a community hockey rink, ball hockey, a hockey-themed obstacle course, virtual photo booth and interactive games.

NHL alumni Kirk McLean, Josh Gorges and Jordin Tootoo will also be on hand.

Events kickoff Friday night prior to the West Kelowna Warriors game. The official opening ceremonies are set for Saturday morning at 11:30.
