Elderly man found

UPDATE: 10:10 p.m.

West Kelowna RCMP have found Al Campbell.

Campbell was found by an RCMP officer near downtown West Kelowna at the base of a small embankment in apparent need of medical assistance.

“Due to the frigid outdoor temperatures, combined with the missing man’s health conditions, our officers were very concerned for his health and overall well being,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

The missing male, who suffered what appeared to be relatively minor injuries and displayed symptoms of exposure to the elements, has  been transported to hospital by BC Ambulance Service for full medical assessment and treatment.

West Kelowna RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating a missing elderly man from West Kelowna.

Al Campbell was last seen approximately 30 minutes prior, walking away from a property in the 3600 block of Old Okanagan Highway. He was headed for the nearby Royal Bank of Canada located in the 3600 block of Gosset Road.

“It is important for the public to know that Al Campbell suffers from a medical condition which may cause him to appear confused or disoriented,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“Numerous officers have been searching the area, as they await the arrival and support from volunteer search and rescue crews," he added.

Campbell described as a caucasian male in his 80’s, short, wearing eye glasses, with white hair.

Police do not believe that Campbell was properly dressed for the elements.

He was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket with a fur hood, and a pair of brown corduroy pants.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Campbell is urged to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
