Residents of Gosset Road in West Kelowna may have wondered why there was a large police presence in the neighbourhood midday Tuesday.

One email sent to Castanet suggested five to six officers and police dogs were seen running down the street and looking through yards.

They seemed to be looking for someone, the tipster said.

Turns out it was just a police practice session.

RCMP Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says dog teams train on a regular basis to ensure their tracking and other specialized skills remain at a high standard.

As of mid-afternoon, the teams were still training in areas around West Kelowna.
