Mitigating Powers Creek

Crews with the City of West Kelowna will spend the next few weeks on recovery work within Powers Creek.

Work will take place between the west side of Rotary Trails Park and the mouth of the creek.

The city is hoping to return the creek's capacity to pre-flood conditions after damage from the floods of 2017.

Portions of Rotary Trails Park, Powers Point Park and Willow Point Park will be closed as will one lane of the Gellatly boat launch.

The bridge over Powers Creek will remain open, however, there could be some minor delays as construction vehicles move through the area.

Overall cost of the recovery work is $768,000. The city expects the project will be complete by Aug. 26.
