RCMP and the BC Coroners Service have now positively identified the remains of a man discovered Thursday evening in West Kelowna.

The name of the man has not been released at this time but RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says, "the investigation into the man's death continues and is being led by the BC Coroners Service, supported by the West Kelowna RCMP."

Emergency crews responded to the report of a man down Thursday August 2, at 8:17 p.m. after an area resident reported an individual lying approximately 200 metres down an embankment, from the intersection of Campbell Place and Campbell Road in West Kelowna. Emergency officials arrived on scene and confirmed that the individual was in fact deceased.

"The remains of a man discovered below the roadway, near the intersection of Campbell Road and Campbell Place in West Kelowna, have now been positively identified by investigators," says RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. "The deceased has been identified as a 31-year-old Kelowna man. The man’s family have since been notified of his sudden passing."

"As a result of the investigation to date, police do not believe that criminality was involved in his death," adds RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Due to the privacy of the deceased, the Coroners Service does not release or confirm identity. The RCMP and Coroners Service have no further information available for release at this time.
