Murder charge laid

A Lower Mainland man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman at the Best Western Hotel on the Westside Sunday night.

Tejwant Danjou, 69, has been charged with murder.

He made an initial appearance in a Kelowna courtroom Monday and he's scheduled to appear again Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the hotel just after 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening. They found a woman dead inside.

While the hotel wasn't evacuated, some hotel guests told Castanet those with rooms on the second floor were denied entry until police had finished their initial investigation.

Another witness said they were told a lot of blood was found in a stairwell.

A number of RCMP officers, including the dog patrol unit, were called to the scene.

The suspect was reportedly found hiding inside a garbage container by a police dog.

Danjou has no previous criminal record in B.C.
