Teen airlifted to KGH

UPDATE: 1:25 p.m.

The 14-year-old girl who fell off a horse near Bear Creek Road Tuesday suffered "lower-body injuries," according to emergency crews on scene, but she was airlifted to hospital in stable condition. 

The incident occurred on a trail off Bear Creek Road in West Kelowna, near the Broken Rail Ranch.


UPDATE: 12:45 p.m.

A medevac helicopter has left the scene where a teenager was injured Tuesday afternoon, presumably transporting her to Kelowna General Hospital. 

Emergency crews responded to an area near the Broken Rail Ranch off Bear Creek Road just before noon for reports of a 14-year-old girl who was injured after falling from a horse. 

Paramedics found the girl on a trail off Bear Creek Road. 

The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time. 


ORIGINAL: 12:20 p.m.

Emergency crews are assisting a 14 year-old girl near Bear Creek Road Tuesday afternoon, after she reportedly was thrown from a horse just before noon. 

Fire and ambulance crews are on scene off Petterson Road, and a helicopter has landed in the area to aid in the rescue. 

It's unclear how severe the rider's injuries are at this time. 

Castanet has a reporter headed to the scene.
