Joining 2 water systems

The City of West Kelowna will be joining the Pritchard and Sunnyside water systems together.

The city says interconnecting the adjacent systems will meet water quality requirements.

In a news release, officials say users of the Pritchard system will have to remain on a boil water notice until improved treatment is provided, or the system is connected to the Sunnyside system.

Users have been on a boil water notice since early May.

Work on the interconnection will begin July 23. It's expected to take about four days to complete.

While work is being done, Pritchard water users and those at Barona Beach may experience slight water pressure changes.

West Kelowna's water master plan recommends the two systems be interconnected.

The work was initially expected after the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant was finished, but persistent issues have moved up the timeline.
