WFN unveils new park

Westbank First Nation will host an open house this evening to unveil design plans for a new mulit-use park.

The open house is set for 4-6 p.m. on the top floor of the WFN Health and Wellness Building, 1900 Quail Lane.

Consultation for the new park has been ongoing since 2016 to ensure the final design is feasible and reflective of the community's recreational needs.

It will be located next to the new WFN Youth Centre on Quail Lane.

The park, which will include a number of outdoor recreational facilities and amenities, will enhance the outdoor recreation spaces currently available to the community, including a baseball diamond and stadium, soccer field, member beach volleyball and picnic area, a pit house, and community garden.

"Because this new park will have a significant and longstanding impact, the community is encouraged to be involved throughout the design process," WFN said in a news release.

No word when construction could begin.
