Steady action at the polls

Madison Erhardt

Voting has been steady in the Kelowna West byelection as residents go to the polls to chose a replacement for former premier Christy Clark.

Clark resigned from politics following her minority government's defeat in the B.C. legislature last summer, and Liberal candidate Ben Stewart is hoping to swap places with her for a second time.

Stewart won the riding in 2013, but stepped aside so Clark could run after she was defeated in her Vancouver-area riding.

Stewart, along with Shelley Cook (NDP), Robert Stupka (Green), Kyle Geronazzo (Libertarian), and Mark Thompson (Progressive Conservatives) are vying for the seat.

Elections B.C. says 13 per cent of the riding's nearly 47,000 voters cast ballots in advance polls.

We'll have results as they come in tonight, after the polls close at 8 p.m., so stay tuned to castanet for the latest updates.
