Stuck sledder rescued

Search and rescue crews worked through the night Sunday and into the early hours Monday to locate a snowmobiler in the hills above Fintry.

Vernon Search and Rescue says the sledder was riding in the Terrace Mountain area of the Westside when his machine became stuck.

The rider made the decision to walk out, and, fortunately, his cellphone had just enough battery power to reach police and provide his co-ordinates.

A search team headed west from the La Casa Cottages towards the subject's last known position, and located the snowmobiler on a forest service road about 2 a.m.

Although cold and tired, the subject was not injured.
