Project closes Pebble Beach

A $3.5-million construction project at the Westside Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant will close Pebble Beach Park for the next couple of months.

Work has begun on an expansion of the plant's outfall into Okanagan Lake.

The new line will go from the plant, crossing Whitworth Road and through the park, extending 440 metres into the lake.

Construction will run through the end of March between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily.

The project will increase efficiency of the Gellatly Road plant, which treats about 10 million litres of wastewater each day from the City of West Kelowna, District of Peachland and Westbank First Nation.
