On the loose after assault

Two men forced their way into a West Kelowna home Saturday, assaulted a woman and fired several gunshots before fleeing.

Just after 3 p.m., police responded to the home on the 3000 block of Ensign Way.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later found and seized the attackers' getaway vehicle.

Investigators have determined one of the suspects is John Michael Aronson, who is wanted by police on multiple outstanding warrants.

RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Aronson, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “If spotted, the public is cautioned not to approach him and (is) urged to immediately contact their local police, as Aronson has a history of violence and should be considered dangerous.”

Police believe the attack was targeted and not random.

Aronson has an extensive criminal record with several court dates scheduled, including one on Oct. 5 for resisting an officer and dangerous operation of a vehicle, stemming from a July 7, 2017, incident.

Aronson also has a trial scheduled for Feb. 23 on a charge of being unlawfully at large.
