Work to replace the bridge over McDougall Creek begins Monday.
Work will begin Monday on replacement of the old bridge over McDougall Creek on Shannon Lake Road.
Motorists can expect delays along that portion of the road until it is completely closed the following Monday, July 17.
People are asked to use Old Okanagan Highway to access Highway 97 until construction is complete in October.
Pedestrian access over the creek will be maintained as much as possible, but some closures will be necessary.
The $975,000 project is necessary to increase the load capacity of the bridge to accommodate emergency vehicles, and due to its age.
Some road realignment will also be necessary.
