Accident claims newsman

A tragic accident has claimed the life of former Castanet news director Trevor Rockliffe.

He was working on a vehicle at his home Friday when the jack gave way and he was crushed.

Rockliffe, 54, was news director for nearly four years before leaving the company in November of last year.

His love was video; telling a story from behind the lens. A passionate newsman, his greatest joy in the business was tracking a story and bringing it to viewers – any time of the day or night.

During his time with Castanet, Rockliffe took the company to new heights in video news gathering and video production.

Prior to joining Castanet, Rockliffe spent time working with CTV Vancouver and Shaw.

Since leaving, he worked on the production crew of the highly successful reality show Highway Thru Hell.

Most recently, he was working as a freelance video journalist on numerous forest fires around the province.

Rockliffe leaves behind his wife, Colleen, and four children.
