Van fire spreads to building

A vehicle fire spread to the carport of a townhouse in West Kelowna Friday evening.

The fire started in a van parked on Gellatly Rd., just below Highway 97, near the Westside McDonald's restaurant.

The fire started about 8 p.m.

The van was destroyed, and the flames spread to the carport, siding and roof of the structure.

Four fire department units responded, knocking the fire down quickly, along with police, ambulance and Fortis staff.

It is unknown at this point if there were any injuries in the incident, which was in a duplex unit, not the larger townhouse complex.
