Rockets Even Series In OT

Finally! It took four games, but the Kelowna Rockets were finally able to play Kelowna Rockets hockey Wednesday night in Vancouver. The result? A 2-1 overtime victory, tying their best of seven series at 2 games apiece.

The Rockets stifling defense kept the Giants in check all night long, holding Vancouver to just 17 shots, while the offense patiently waited for their opportunities.

Once again, Brent Howarth had a hand in the overtime winner. On Saturday, Howarth scored in the extra period to give the Rockets a 4-3 win. On Wednesday, Howarth took a feed from Kyle Cumiskey in the slot and fired a low shot that Vancouver goaltender Marek Schwarz couldn't handle. Rookie Lauris Darzins pounced on the rebound and put the winner into the empty net 2:02 into overtime.

Justin Keller with his 4th of the series scored the other Rockets goal with just 15 seconds left in the 2nd period. Adam Courchaine opened the scoring for the Giants in the opening period.

Game 5 in the series goes Friday night at 7 at Prospera Place, with game 6 back in Vancouver Saturday.
