The Kelowna Rockets nearly let one slip away Wednesday night. The Rockets were in total command, leading the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 3-0 in the 3rd, watched the lead slip away, then needed some overtime heroics to skate off with a 4-3 victory.
Rookie Lauris Darzins played the role of hero, scoring his 17th of the season in the extra period. Blake Comeau with his 22nd, Chris Ray with his 8th and Mike Card with his 8th also scored for the Rockets.
Nate Thompson, Zack FitzGerald and Aaron Gagnon replied for the T-Birds.
The Rockets remain 3 points behind Kootenay in the battle for top spot in the Western Division. Both teams have ten games remain in the regular season, including a head to head battle this Saturday night at Prospera Place.
