Loss Begins Rockets' Break

  • The Kelowna Rockets played the Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday night in Alberta and lost 4-2, ending a four game prairie trek. The Rockets now begin a seven day holiday break and next play at Prospera Place December 28 when they host the Kamloops Blazers.
  • It was a good and bad Grand Prix Final for Canadian figure skaters in Beijing, China. Jeffrey Buttle from Smooth Rock Falls, Ont., couldn't beat a flawless Russian Evgeni Plushenko to take a silver medal in the men's singles event, while Joannie Rochette of Ile-Dupas, Que., captured the bronze in the women's competition.Full story
  • Thomas Grandi of Canmore, Alberta won a giant slalom in Italy today for the first win of his World Cup career. Second after the first run, Grandi covered the steep and twisting Gran Risa course in a two-run combined time of two minutes, 34.23 seconds. Benjamin Raich of Austria placed second, followed by Switzerland's Didier Cuche.Full story
  • Toronto Raptors fans looking to purchase an Alonzo Mourning jersey might want to spend their money elsewhere. New Raptor Alonzo Mourning is undergoing medical tests in Florida and won't report to his new team next week. Mourning, one of four players involved in the Vince Carter trade with New Jersey on Friday, won't be joining his new team next week and maybe not at all.Full story
  • Coming off a 91-win season, it appears the Oakland Athletics are rebuilding in earnest. The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired left-handed ace Mark Mulder from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitchers Danny Haren and Kiko Calero along with catching prospect Daric Barton.Full story
