Tigers Topple Rockets

  • The Kelowna Rockets lost 5-1 to the Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday night in Alberta. Kevin Nastiuk had a 31 save performance in the Tiger win. The Rockets play at Lethbridge 6:00 pm tonight Alberta time
  • Today's West Division semifinal contest features the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Edmonton Eskimos. The game starts at 12:30 our time with the winner advancing to next Sunday's Western Final against the Lions at BC Place.
  • Ian Millar won a record ninth Canadian Show Jumping Championship title Saturday at the Royal Horse Show. Millar, riding In Style, incurred only two penalties over three rounds of competition.
  • The OUC Women's Volleyball team came up winners in weekend competitions. They defeated Camosun College 3-0 Friday and Malaspina University college 3-2 Saturday night. The Men's Volleyball team beat Camosun College 3-2 Friday evening but lost to Malaspina 3-1 Saturday.
  • World champion Shizuka Arakawa captured her first career Grand Prix title Saturday by winning the NHK Trophy figure skating championship in Nagoya, Japan. Arakawa, who led after the short program, finished second in the free skate but managed to hang on for the victory. No Canadians were entered in the event.Full Story
  • Dany Heatley suffered a serious eye injury during a Swiss League hockey game on Saturday night. The Atlanta Thrashers star was hit in the eye by his teammate Daniel Briere while playing for SC Bern. Full Story
