Matthew Wedman scored two late goals in Kelowna's 5-4 win

Matthew Wedman score goals two minutes apart late in the third period Tuesday, leading the Kelowna Rockets to a come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Prince George Cougars.

The win earned the Rockets a sweep of their two games in Prince George.

Down a goal with less than six minutes to go in regulation time, Wedman took a pass at the bottom of the right faceoff circle, and wired a sharp angle wrist shot past Taylor Gauthier.

Two minutes later, Wedman was at it again.

Dillon Hamaliuk did most of the work on the winner, circling around the net to the right half wall. He stopped, worked his way toward the corner then powered his way to the side of the net. Gauthier stopped the initial shot as he and Hamaliuk collided, allowing Wedman to sweep home the loose puck.

The two former Seattle Thunderbirds feasted on the Cougars, combining for six goals and three assists during the two wins.

Hamaliuk, Tyson Feist and Kyle Topping also scored for the Rockets.

The game was deadlocked at 2-2 after one with the Cougars taking a 3-2 lead into the third.

Topping tied it early before Cole Moberg beat Cole Schewbius for his second of the night to re-establish the one goal lead.

The Rockets outshot Prince George 39-28.

The Rockets have three wins and a shootout loss in four games under interim head coach Kris Mallette, who took over the reins a week ago.

The Rockets head home to face the Everett Silvertips Friday night to kick off a home-and-home.
