Rockets win 2nd straight in overtime, edging Vancouver 3-2

More Rocket OT magic

Another day, another overtime hero.

Defenceman Kaeden Korczak played hero Saturday, ripping home a one-timer from the high slot on a power play 1:58 into the extra period.

The goal earned the Rockets a 3-2 over the Vancouver Giants. It was Korczak's second overtime winner of the season.

Trevor Wong set up the game winner, curling from near the goal line around the left faceoff circle before setting up Korczak for the one-timer.

Kyle Topping, in just his second game back after a lengthy stint on the injured list, set up the game tying goal 11 minutes into the third, when his centering pass from along the goal line was tipped home by Jonas Peterek.

It was Peterek's fourth goal in six games since coming over in a deadline deal from Calgary.

Matthew Wedman, who scored the overtime winner the night before, opened the scoring Saturday, beating Trent Miner, after skating past two defenders on his way to the net.

The Giants took advantage of Kelowna penalties in the second, getting power play goals from Milos Roman and Tyler Preziuso to take a 2-1 lead after 40.

The Rockets got the lone goal of the third then, with Tristan Nielsen off with a major for interference late in the third, were able to end it on the same power play in overtime.

Roman Basran returned to the Kelowna net, turning aside 30 shots for the victory.

The Rockets and Giants get back at it again Sunday in the back half of the home-and-home, 5 p.m. at Prospera Place.
