Kelowna Rockets snapped their six-game losing streak Friday

Rockets prevail in overtime

Matthew Wedman stuck it to his old team Friday night.

And, in the process, helped right the 'Good Ship Rocket.'

Wedman's goal 3:58 into overtime capped a late third period comeback, leading Kelowna past the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2.

He won it on the Rockets third shot of the overtime period, when he circled the Seattle net and tucked the puck five-hole on Roddy Ross on a wraparound.

Mark Liwiski, who returned from the injured list Friday, forced overtime when he deflected home Sean Comrie's wrist shot from the right point with 1:52 to go in regulation time.

Comrie also returned to the lineup after missing a few weeks due to injury.

Pavel Novak, who assisted on the game-tying goal, opened the scoring for the Rockets just 3:11 into the contest when his slap shot from the top of the right circle beat Ross.

Conner Roulette tied it before the end of the first, and Max Patterson gave the T-Birds a 2-1 midway through the second.

Cole Schwebius turned aside 30 shots to earn the victory against his former teammates.

The Rockets continue a busy weekend Saturday night in Vancouver before hosting the same Giants Sunday afternoon at 5 at Prospera Place.
