Rookie Cole Schwebius earned his first WHL shutout

Rockets pitch a shutout

Rookie Cole Schwebius turned aside 33 shots and captain Nolan Foote's power play goal held up as the Kelowna Rockets blanked Victoria 1-0 Wednesday.

Schwebius, acquired from Seattle in the off season, registered his first career Western Hockey League shutout in the win.

It was also the first goose egg of the season for the Rockets, who earned three of a possible four points from their mid-week trip to the provincial capital.

Foote scored the only goal of the game off the rush on a first period power play.

He slammed home Pavel Novak's rebound 11:31 into the game.

Schwebius did the rest as the Royals outshot Kelowna 33-17, including 14-3 in the final period.

The Rockets are now deadlocked with the Kamloops Blazers atop the BC Division.

They're back home to host the Prince George Cougars Friday.
