Rockets acquire Viper star

The Kelowna Rockets have completed a trade with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Rockets sent a fourth-round bantam draft choice in 2022 to the Hurricanes in exchange for the rights to 17-year-old forward Alex Swetlikoff.

Swetlikoff, a Kelowna native, is currently playing with the Vernon Vipers in the BC Hockey League.

In 27 games, Swetlikoff has eight goals and 20 points.

He was also recently named to take part in the World Junior A Challenge beginning this weekend in Bonnyville, Alta.

"We had an opportunity to pick up the rights to a quality player," said Rockets' general manager Bruce Hamilton.

"He's a very talented player that would bring depth to our organization."

Swetlikoff has committed to Denver University.
