Team Canada takes lead

Team WHL faces off in Game 2 tonight of the 2018 CIBC Canada-Russia Series.

The WHL squad, which includes Kelowna Rockets assistant captain Nolan Foote, beat Team Russia 2-1 in the opening game Monday night in Kamloops.

In a tightly matched game, Team Russia outshot the WHL 28-23.

Dylan Cozens and Jordy Bellerive scored for Canada.

Prince Albert's Ian Scott turned aside 26 shots for the WHL team.

Foote was held off the scoresheet, but went 50 per cent in the faceoff ring and had two penalty minutes.

Tonight's game will be played in Vancouver and will be on Sportsnet at 7 p.m.

Foote is back with the Rockets on Nov. 21, when they host the Regina Pats at Prospera Place.
