Rocket hopefuls get invite

Two potential future Kelowna Rockets are on Hockey Canada's radar.

Ethan Bowen and Ethan Ernst have both been invited to Canada's national under-17 development camp.

Both are among 111 players invited to the camp, which begins the process of selecting three teams to represent Canada at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Bowen, selected by the Rockets in the second round of the 2017 bantam draft, had nine goals and 34 points in 27 games with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in the BC Major Midget Hockey League.

Ernst, selected a round later in the same 2017 draft, notched 22 goals and 48 points on 52 games last season while toiling with the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

The week-long camp runs from July 21 to 27.

Following the camp, players will continue to be evaluated through the early portion of the 2018-2019 season.

The 66 players selected to participate under the Canada black, red and white banners, will compete at the under-17 challenge Nov. 3 to 10 in New Brunswick.
