Rockets Clip Hawks

The World Junior Hockey Championships couldn't come at a worse time for the Kelowna Rockets.

The upcoming tournament means the Rockets will have to vacate Prospera Place for the next seven games.

The Rockets have lost five straight on the road.

The story has been quite the opposite on home ice, where the Rockets ran their winning streak to 10 games Friday night, beating the visiting Portland Winter Hawks.

Defenseman Mike Card led the way, scoring once and adding three assists. Justin Keller with his team leading 25th and 26th of the season and Troy Bodie each added twice.

The Rockets power play was in high gear, scoring four times in eight opportunities, while the penalty killers held the visitors scoreless in seven tries.

The Rockets remain two points behind Vancouver and four in back of Kootenay in the tight BC Division race. The Rockets have two games in hand on the Giants and five on the Ice.

The Rockets play their final game before the Christmas break Saturday night in Tri-Cities.
