Kelowna Rockets Hire Gellert

The Kelowna Rockets are pleased to announce the recent hiring of Kim Gellert to the hockey club’s coaching staff.

Gellert spent 21 years competing in the European Professional Hockey Leagues as both a player and coach. Upon his retirement, Gellert and his family established roots in Kelowna and Kim would spend the past seven seasons coaching minor hockey, conducting high performance skill based summer camps and developed a fall and winter academy for a small number of private students.

“We are very excited to have Kim on board. His experience at the Pro Level will be beneficial to our players. With Larry Keating’s recent departure we felt that it was essential to bring in another quality person and we feel Kim will step in and help our team in many aspects,” commented Rockets Head Coach, Jeff Truitt.

“With the recent changes at the NHL level to remove the Red Line, we felt it was important to bring someone on board who has experience with the game having no centre line,” added Truitt.

Gellert will join the Rockets coaching staff as Assistant Coach along with current staff members, Head Coach-Jeff Truitt, Assistant Coach-Ryan Huska, Assistant Coach/Goaltending Consultant- Kim Dillabaugh and Strength and Conditioning Coach/Athletic Therapist-Scott Hoyer.
