Navy Spokesperson Lieutenant Greg Menzies says the Pacific Fleet Diving Unit from Esquimalt has removed an unexploded ordnance from Cosens Bay.
"They have recovered the UXO from the water, and they are now in the process of disposing of it," Menzies said Friday morning.
Menzies says he has not yet received word on the type of UXO found, but he expects that information will be made available later today.
The dive team is expected to continue a sweep of the area using a side scan sonar on Friday and Saturday.
"After disposal, they are planning to continue to dive in the area to make sure it's safe for the public," said Menzies.
