Kelowna RCMP are warning that mini and off road motorcycles are not allowed on city streets and can't be licensed for road use.
Constable Rick Aselton says anyone caught riding will have the mini bike impounded and be charged for no insurance which means a $598 fine.
R.C.M.P. have been receiving complaints about "mini motorcycles" being used on city streets, sidewalks, public parking lots and city lanes in the Central Okanagan. There has also been an increase in calls on unlicensed off road motorcycles on city streets.
This warning applies to 4 wheel quad style motorcycles and police say riders should check with Ministry of Forests or private land owners before using an area for riding these off road style motorcycles. There may be areas closed due to risk of fire or there is always possible civil litigation should the rider be injured on private property.
