BC Parks is reminding the public to refrain from entering two closed Okanagan parks as a result of park rehabilitation work that began yesterday.
Crews are falling hazard trees along trails and near facilities in Myra
Bellevue Provincial Park and Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park. The trees
were heavily damaged in the 2003 wildfire, and as a result, are weak and are
in danger of falling on people.
The parks have been closed since 2003 in the interest of public safety.
While this work is ongoing, they say that it is particularly important that the public respects the closure.
Once this safety work is completed, the parks will reopen to the public.
