A Canadian author will be at Coles in Vernon's Village Green Mall today for a book signing.
Greg Scott is a father of two who made headlines with his daughter last year for skiing all 44 lift-serviced ski areas in B.C. in just 42 days. The pair ended their journey at Vernon's SilverStar resort.
Prior to that adventure, Scott and his son biked across the country together over the course of 15 years. Scott then wrote a book about the experience, The Cycle of Life: A Fifteen-Year Coast-to-Coast Journey, One-on-One Time & Sharing Stories.
Scott says the journey started in 2007, on his son's 10th birthday.
“The two ceremoniously dipped their bicycle tires in the Pacific Ocean and pedalled east as far as a young boy’s legs and a little bike could handle. One year later, they picked up from the exact spot where they left off and pushed on eastward,” reads the book website.
“They continued in that same fashion each summer for fifteen years, with their sights set on making it to the Atlantic Ocean to dip their tires again.”
The journey finally came to an end in 2022, and The Cycle of Life was published in September this year. Scott will be signing copies of the book today at Coles from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Scott says partial proceeds of book sales are going towards his Tidbits of Change Foundation education and bursary programs.
The foundation offers bursaries to teens creating their own initiatives or attending post-secondary education. More information about eligibility can be found online here, this year’s application period opens on Dec. 15.
The book can also be found online, and is also available online at Indigo, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kindle.
