Semi crash knocked out power to Cherryville, service now restored

UPDATE: 12:05 p.m.

Power has now been restored to Cherryville following an early morning crash.

ORIGINAL: 11:30 a.m.

Almost the entire community of Cherryville is without power.

BC Hydro reports a power outage from east of Lumby all the way to Sugar Lake.

Hydro lists the cause as a motor vehicle accident, but local social media posts suggest the electricity is out due to a logging truck hitting a pole.

Hydro says 797 customers are affected, and power has been out since about 3:30 a.m.

Crews are working on the matter, and it is estimated power should be back on by noon.
