Crash near Armstrong on Christmas Eve has claimed two lives

Two killed on Hwy 97A

Two people have died as a result of a crash on Highway 97A north of Armstrong on Christmas Eve.

Const. James Ward with the BC Highway Patrol tells Castanet News two vehicles collided head-on sometime before 9 p.m. Saturday evening.

However, there were no witnesses at the scene to indicate how the collision occurred and RCMP reconstructionists were all at the scene of Saturday's fatal bus crash.

Ward says a BC Ambulance came upon the scene and alerted RCMP.

The drivers of both vehicles died at the scene.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was injured and taken to hospital.

Ward says police have taken possession of both vehicles and will conduct tests to determine whether there were any mechanical issues with either of the vehicles involved.

The portion of highway between Mountain View Drive and Powerhouse Road was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.

Names of the deceased have not been released while police attempt to notify next of kin.
