Vernon medicinal mushroom firm expands retail reach with Sobeys deal

Doseology expands reach

A Vernon-based company that uses functional mushrooms to treat cognitive and mental health has had its products accepted for distribution by national retailer Sobeys.

Doseology Sciences announced the deal Wednesday.

It will see Doseology's line of functional mushroom supplements in 48 stores across Canada.

The placement includes 32 locations under the Sobeys name and 16 under the Safeway banner.

"Adding Sobeys to our distribution network is a significant accomplishment, as Sobeys is the second largest supermarket chain in Canada. We are very excited about this placement, as it approximately doubles our retail footprint," Doseology CEO Ralph Olson said in a press release.

Sobeys has approximately 1,500 stores across Canada, also including brands IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, Lawtons Drugs.

The Doseology products will be featured in the Rachelle Béry health and wellness section of select stores.

Doseology focuses on mental health and wellness through "cultivation, extraction and innovative nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products," a company statement says.

"With a vertically integrated approach, Doseology intends to process and distribute products at its facilities in Vernon, British Columbia, in accordance with applicable laws to ensure safe and high-quality production."

Its medicinal mushroom products include tinctures, powders and supplements.
