Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics presents 25th anniversary Christmas production

Rhythm, grace on stage

Vernon Olympian Camille Martens' Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics is teaming up for a Christmas production to celebrate the group's 25th anniversary.

ORG and Cirque Theatre Company present The Lost Pages Friday and Saturday at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre.

Written and produced by Martens, the show is Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics' first since a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

More that 100 athletes, musicians, dancers, actors, choreographers, coaches and gymnasts are involved in the original production.

ORG bills the performance as a "dynamic fusion of dance, drama, gymnastics and cirque-like story telling."

The performance stars Clara Cox and features national team member Halle Moger.

Children aged five and up will also take part in the production.

"It incorporates many different cultures of artistry which includes acting, dancing, rhythmic gymnastics, music, circus arts, tumbling," say the event's organizers.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a Saturday matinee at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at ticketseller.ca or by calling 250-549-SHOW.

Martens competed in the 1996 Olympics, 1994 Commonwealth Games, and was on the national rhythmic gymnastics team from 1990 to 1996, with a brief comeback in 1999. She also founded the Cirque Theatre Company.

Athletes from the club have participated in world championships, grand prix and world cup events.
