Friends rally around Vernon woman and her breast cancer battle

Rallying around Tania

Friends are rallying around a Vernon woman battling breast cancer.

A 'Beef, Buns and Beer for Breast Cancer' event will benefit Tania Hollingsworth, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma that spread to her lymph nodes a year and a half ago.

"The past year and a half, Tania has been through more than most of us will ever have to go through in our lives," organizers of the Nov. 12 event at Lakers Clubhouse say.

Hollingsworth has battled through months of chemotherapy, multiple rounds of radiation, and two mastectomies.

The fundraiser will include silent and live auctions, food, music, and dancing.

Castanet is also accepting donations for the auction.

The event takes place from 3 to 10 p.m. and the $30 tickets include beef on a bun and a beer.

They are available by emailing [email protected]. Be sure to include name and phone number on e-transfer.

There will also be a 50/50 draw and door prizes.

Hollingsworth "still has a long road ahead of her," organizers say, but "through all of this (has been) an inspiration to all of us."
